Yarmouth visitor centre, 5 others to close?

YARMOUTH VISITOR INFORMATION CENTRE
Political reporter Michael Gorman reports in Local Xpress that The provincial government is poised to close its Visitor Information Centres (VICs) in Yarmouth, Port Hastings, Peggys Cove, the Halifax waterfront and at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport. What - if anything - will replace them remains unknown, says Gorman.

Last year the province closed visitor information centres in Digby and Pictou. Gorman cites sources with the union representing workers and the warden in a municipality affected, who said, "All we've heard so far is that the province is going to close the information centre.

Tourism in Southwest NS has been struggling and the new ferry service by Bay Ferries is weeks behind schedule, with reports last week of cancellations of tour groups.
