For example, we have increased the Universal Child Care Benefit (UCCB) to $160 per month from $100 per month for children under the age of 6. The UCCB now also offers $60 per month for children aged 6 through 17, effective as of January 1, 2015.</span></p> </div> <div> <p><span style="font-size:14px;">We have also increased the Child Care Expense Deduction limit by $1000, effective as of the 2015 taxation year. And we have introduced the Family Tax Cut, a new federal non-refundable tax credit, which would provide up to $2,000 in tax relief to couples with children under the age of 18, effective as of the 2014 taxation year. I am pleased to report that every Canadian family with children will benefit from our plan.</span></p> </div> <div> <p><span style="font-size:14px;">Our Government remains on track to balance the budget this year, and we are fulfilling our promise to help Canadian families balance theirs. In contrast, the Liberals and NDP would like us to throw caution to the wind, reverse these tax cuts and drive the country further into debt. I can tell you – we will not let that happen. The opposition believes that politicians in Ottawa can spend your money better than you can. We know they are wrong.</span></p> </div> <div> <p><span style="font-size:14px;">In an uncertain world, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Finance Minister Joe Oliver are providing the strong leadership Canada needs and deserves. We have a plan and our plan is working. More than 1.2 million new jobs have been created since 2009. We must stay the course. Our plan of lowering taxes and providing benefits directly to families for them to reinvest in the economy will ensure a more prosperous Canada today and for generations to come.</span></p> </div> <div> <p><span style="font-size:14px;">Kevin Sorenson, Minister of State (Finance)</span></p> </div> <div> <p><span style="font-size:14px;">For confirmation of author:</span></p> </div> <div> <p><span style="font-size:14px;">Meagan Murdoch</span></p> </div> <div> <p><span style="font-size:14px;">Director of Communications &amp; Operations</span></p> </div> <div> <p><span style="font-size:14px;">Office of Minister of State (Finance) Kevin Sorenson</span></p> </div> <div> <p><span style="font-size:14px;"><a href="mailto:[email protected]">[email protected]</a></span></p> </div> <div> <p><span style="font-size:14px;">O: 613-369-3295</span></p> </div> <div> <p><span style="font-size:14px;">C: 613-716-2012</span></p> </div> <p> </p> </div></div></div><div class="service-links"><a href="https://twitter.com/share?url=http://www.southcoasttoday.ca/content/cynical-harper-govt-message-heritage-day&amp;count=horizontal&amp;via=&amp;text=Cynical Harper govt message for Heritage Day&amp;counturl=http://www.southcoasttoday.ca/content/cynical-harper-govt-message-heritage-day" class="twitter-share-button service-links-twitter-widget" title="Tweet This" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><span class="element-invisible">Tweet Widget</span></a> <a href="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=http://www.southcoasttoday.ca/content/cynical-harper-govt-message-heritage-day&amp;layout=button_count&amp;show_faces=false&amp;action=like&amp;colorscheme=light&amp;width=100&amp;height=21&amp;font=&amp;locale=" title="I Like it" class="service-links-facebook-like" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><span class="element-invisible">Facebook Like</span></a> <a href="https://www.facebook.com/sharer.php" title="Share this post on Facebook" class="service-links-facebook-widget" rel="http://www.southcoasttoday.ca/content/cynical-harper-govt-message-heritage-day" target="_blank">Share on Facebook</a></div><div class="field field-name-field-tags field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Tags:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/general/harper-government" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">harper government</a></div><div class="field-item odd" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/general/pr-crap" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">PR crap</a></div><div class="field-item even" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/general/cynical-manipulation" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">cynical manipulation</a></div></div></div> Fri, 13 Feb 2015 19:58:42 +0000 Timothy Gillespie 3608 at http://www.southcoasttoday.ca http://www.southcoasttoday.ca/content/cynical-harper-govt-message-heritage-day#comments
