Virtual care touted by health officials as partial solution to family doctor crisis

The growing number of Nova Scotians who do not have a family doctor weren’t prescribed any magic cure by Nova Scotia Health Authority officials appearing Thursday at the Legislature's standing committee on health.

But, according to health officials, virtual care and collaborative care health models are likely to alleviate the province’s doctor pinch, allowing 30,000 people on the growing waiting list for family doctors to receive care.

Covid Phase 4 re-opening set to begin July 14
