Shire Town finally complies with URB ruling on council size

The Town of Shelburne will finally have a public meeting about the proposed plans to reduce the size of the Town Council from six to four.

The Utilities Review Board (URB) recently denied the Town's application for the reduction, because the Town had failed to do any public consultation on the proposal, despite admonitions from the URB that formal consultation was a requirement of the Board.

Now, a Public Meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 7th, 2012 at 7:00pm at the King Street Community Centre, 63 King Street.

More information may be available at the Town Office, 168 Water Street, between the hours of 8:30am and 4:00pm Monday and Tuesday.

If there is going to be a meeting about down sizing, why not a meeting about Amalgamation too, at the same time.

I really don't see the need for all of these councils, and different office buildings.

I don't think the town council and the municipal councils even talk to one another. Do they ?

What is good for the town is good for the municipality.

What is good for the municipality is good for the town.

At least talk about it, with some public input.
