Cindy Day bringing good weather to Shelburne this weekend

CTV weather goddess Cindy Day is promising great weather this weekend as she heads to Shelburne for some R&R and to be the celebrity host and emcee for the 17th Annual Whirligig & Weathervane Festival, taking place on the Historic Shelburne waterfront.

Might be a bit of rain later Sunday, but Cindy will "reign" over the Festival awards ceremony Sunday at 4:00pm and she says she'll be around all weekend.

Some other highlights of the Festival:

Saturday at 2:30, there will be a dedication for Shelburne's first major installation of public art, with a reception to follow. [more details here]

Sunday, from 1:00pm-3:00pm, Chett Buchanan and Friends will entertain with great live music on the Dock Street Stage,

Cindy writes in her blog, "I love my job…for so many reasons: it challenges me every day; it changes every day and it allows me the opportunity to meet some amazing people!

This weekend, I’m off to Shelburne Nova Scotia for the 17th Annual Whirligig and Weather Vane Festival.  Yes, that’s right, 17 years. Now really, could there be a more perfect event for me to take part in?  I think not!

By definition a whirligig “is an object that spins or whirls, or has at least one member that spins or whirls”. Whirligigs are also known as pinwheels, buzzers, comic weathervanes, gee-haws, spinners, whirlybird, or plain whirly.  Whirligigs can be hand, friction, or motor powered, but they are most commonly powered by wind.  That’s my connection I guess!

I’ve been aware of the festival for some time but haven’t been able to get to it, until now.  I’ll be in town all weekend, checking out the various events and judging by the website, http://www.whirligigfestival.com there’s something for everyone.

Read Cindy's blog and come out to meet Cindy and all of the great whirlgig makers from Nova Scotia and beyond.
